Maxxess assists the Support team to work from home
Maxxess Management has recently implemented a hybrid working model at Maxxess Solutions, especially for it’s Systems Support team. The team tirelessly provides 24 hours a day, 365 days a year support including Public Holidays and monitoring services for our Customers and their Time and Attendance Infrastructure. This enables the team to work some of their shifts, from their homes, rather than having to travel to the office every day.
Not only does this mean that the team can spend more time with their families, it also saves on vehicle expenses, both Petrol and Maintenance costs, during the month. Traveling to and from the Offices in the middle of the night also raises safety concerns. Indeed, traveling during normal rush hour traffic increases stress levels and traffic jams can cause delayed shift handovers.


However, working from home in South Africa comes with it’s own special challenges. The South African energy crisis, most notably manifesting in the form of successive bouts of rolling blackouts as electricity supply falls behind electricity demand, has a direct impact on the hybrid working model. During which time consistent Customer Services still needs to be maintained. To circumvent this, infrastructure such as Invertors, Batteries, Generators and indeed Solar Panels start becoming a necessity. Living in rented accommodation restricts the ability to install Inverters, Batteries and Solar Panels as these items become permanent features and therefore the property of the Owner.
Townhouse living also typically places restrictions on the Installation and use of Generators due to emitting bad smelling fumes and the noise level. The cheaper small UPS’s, typically to keep a single PC or laptop running, based on Lead Acid Batteries work great for a while, but soon degrade with repetitive use and become ineffective without regularly replacing the batteries.
To assist the Support Team, Maxxess Management have made available Mecer 1KVA 1kW Lithium Battery Inverter Trolleys to each member of the team through the provision of Interest Free Loans payable back over an extended period of time. The Lithium batteries provide up to 2,000 cycles @DOD 80%, which if used on a daily basis would equate to over 5 years of battery life.
