Maxxess Interfaces to the Idemia MorphoWAVE Reader
Maxxess is pleased to announce the direct integration of the Idemia MorphoWAVE SP and MorphoWAVE XP Reader ranges with the Maxxess Time and Attendance and Access Control System. The product enables within the Time and Attendance or Access Control scenarios, quick, easy, and accurate verification of employees at the workplace. Thus, assisting in the elimination of possible ‘buddy clocking’, ‘ghost employees’ or ‘unauthorised personnel’. Fake Finger detection can also be configured.
The Reader requires some onsite training of personnel on how to correctly WAVE the hand through the device, as most are used to placing a finger onto the surface of the Reader. But once this is done, the reader provides an extremely fast verification process with less retry instances due to poor finger placement. Therefore, enabling personnel to pass through Access Points quicker than traditional finger biometrics. Since the reader is contactless, hygiene also becomes a beneficial factor too.

We have Integrated directly with the Idemia MorphoWAVE Reader rather than utilising the built-in access control and Time & Attendance functionalities. Nor did we decide to use Idemia’s Morpho Manager software. This strategy enables us to have direct control of the Reader and implement our own Time & Attendance Rules. However, in saying this we created a ‘listening hook’ to the Readers to allow us to listen to MorphoWAVE Readers managed by the Morpho Manager Software should a Customer prefer this approach.

The integration was developed in C# using the supplied MorphoAccess SIGMA Family and MorphoWAVE Compact Distant Commands. These commands interface to the Readers via an Apache Thrift Interface Definition Language and Binary Communications Protocol. Special thanks to the technical staff at Ideco to ensure that best practise principles were implemented and speedy assistance in any technical queries.
The Maxxess Systems existing enrolment software for the Idemia MorphAccess SIGMA Range of Biometric Readers already supports the capturing of all 10 Fingers into biometric templates usable by the MorphoWAVE device. This simplifies the implementation of the MorphoWAVE for existing Customers with large workforces as it requires no further enrolment of biometric templates for most of the workforce. A specialised MorphoWAVE enrolment module has been developed to perform specific MorphoWAVE biometric enrolments should the need arise.
