Automated Alcohol Testing with Lifeloc Sentinel
The Lifeloc Sentinel Breath Alcohol Screening Entry System has been seamlessly integrated into the Maxxess System enabling Customers to implement a “zero alcohol tolerance” using the Maxxess System to block personnel still under the influence of alcohol to the Customers Property. This can significantly reduce industrial accidents linked to alcohol consumption.
The Lifeloc Sentinel device can also be easily integrated directly into the Access Control turnstiles, automating the process. Security personnel are no longer needed to manually test people, avoiding any coercive influences to bypass testing. Where high volumes of personnel pass through the Access Control Points, existing policies to perform either manual random testing or automated random testing for alcohol can be replaced with a Policy of testing everyone attempting to enter “safety sensitive” industrial areas. The Lifeloc Sentinal device responds with negative results within 2 seconds, whilst positive results can take up to 10 seconds. All test results are immediately recorded directly onto the Maxxess system accessible to HR Staff. Access to Secure Areas are immediately blocked for those testing positive for alcohol.

The Maxxess system also allows Alcohol Testing to be tested on a random basis. This can be automatically varied during the day so that at off peak personnel flow times, everyone is tested, whilst during peak flow times the volume tested is lowered such not to impact the shift passing through the access point. This can be crucial in time sensitive environments, such as the Mining Industry, whereby specific personnel have to be in a specific Cage at a specific time in order to gain access to their place of work on a specific underground level.
For those frequently going in and out of their place of work during the day, an expiry period can individually be placed on the alcohol test performed. So, for example a person coming to work in the morning must have a valid test performed prior to entry, which would expire prior to lunch time.
Some Customers have also installed separate alcohol testing points away from the Access Control Points of their Operations to allow personnel to perform a non-recorded test prior to attempting access. Those testing positive may well decide not to attempt to enter their place of Work, thus avoiding any disciplinary actions that could be implemented for attempting to go to work whilst still under the influence of alcohol.
Maxxess Solutions has numerous Mining based Customers who have successfully deployed this device in order to implement a “zero alcohol tolerance” not only in it’s Mining and Mineral Processing Areas but also throughout Office based Work Locations.
